Mital Spatz, DDS, PharmD

I was raised in a small town in Indiana and thrived to have my independence. I convinced my parents to allow me to attend Culver Girls Academy in northern Indiana for high school where I learned leadership and time management skills. I went to Indiana University for college and then earned my Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD) from Purdue University in 2000. In 2002, I moved to Chicago from Indianapolis while working for Walgreens. After coming to Chicago, I had the opportunity to work for Eli Lilly and NPS Pharmaceuticals before returning to UIC for dental school in 2006.

In 2010, I spent one additional training year in a General Practice Residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and joined one of the instructors in a practice treating children for two years in a rural, under-served area west of Rockford. In this small town, I provided dental education and care to children at school and at the local health department.

After that experience, I knew I wanted to be specially trained in Pediatric Dentistry. I wanted to combine my pharmacy knowledge and dentistry skills to provide dental treatment to children that were apprehensive about dentistry and would benefit from sedative medications. Now, as a Pediatric Dentist, I look forward to incorporating all my skills and helping children complete their dental care with and without sedation here at Children’s Dental World.

I currently live in Chicago with my husband and two daughters. My girls and I have volunteered at dental screening days at UIC and they have enjoyed sharing dental knowledge with other children in an interactive way. We look forward to more opportunities like this. As a family, we also enjoy watching movies, going for walks, playing in the snow and traveling to visit family and friends.
